A Santa Cruz Weekend

Driving from San Jose Airport to Santa Cruz. The beautiful Santa Cruz mountains ahead.

I arrived at the beach house rental. It literally had views from EVERY room.

The views: Sunny blue sky, a seemingly infinite ocean with crashing waves. Surfers and dolphins seen daily.

Below, the tide was high…

but eventually there was still room to make sand castles.

And it wouldn’t be a complete trip to Santa Cruz without a visit to the Boardwalk.

Rides rode and games played, taffy bought, and photo booth pics taken.

Before I knew it, it was time to leave. On my way out of town, a quick stop at the Santa Cruz Book Shop.

This visit with my family was short, but worth every moment and penny spent.

Quick Decision for a Quick Vacation

When your sister that you haven’t seen in over a year asks you to stay with her and her family for a few days in Santa Cruz, you say YES! Even if it’s only for a few days.

Packing for Santa Cruz in March means leave the bathing suit at home. It’s still chilly this time of year. A pair of jeans and a couple of shirts and sweaters, I’ll be good to go.

I’m anticipating hot drinks, long chats, ocean views, and Spanish bingo (my nephews favorite). If we squeeze in the boardwalk and shopping, I’m happy with that too.
