I”m on visit number two to Sandy Toes. The condo upgrades/decor are very much in progress and I’m so pleased with the results. This is the kitchen so far. Light and bright.
My next visit will be painting the cabinets white and hopefully finding some wall decor for below, but no ideas are coming yet. If you have any, let me know!
I’ve also been struggling with a color scheme for the sala (living room) sticking basically with white/cream/gray/black for the furniture.
And then I saw her.
Accent colors have been solved. Now the search for pillows is on.

And if you want to take this a step further, Yale University has a free course of their most popular class, “The Science of Happiness”. This quiz being one of the first things you do.
I just started the course this week and if you’re interested, you can find it at coursera.com.
Here in Mexico it’s hit or miss when it comes to purchasing lemons. The small green limes are EVERYWHERE. I’m talking about the bigger yellow lemons. So when I read about how to freeze them, I was on it. And I’m happy to report that it works.
Simply slice your lemons and place in freezer friendly tupperware putting parchment paper in between the layers. This is a good way to keep them for drinks.
Or cut them into quarters and freeze them. Then you can put them into ziplock bags for easier storage.
Freezing the whole lemon is possible too, but the texture is too “crushy mushy”. The juice tasted fine, but I was not a fan.
My preferred option was to juice them and put them into ice cube trays. I let them freeze and then put them in zip lock bags. Each of my ice cubes are about 2 Tbsp.
*Per the internet, lemons will last approximately 3 months in the freezer for the best taste.

Here’s the Environmental Workers Group (EWG) 2018 list of the dirty dozen and the clean fifteen fruits and vegetables. This is good intel to know what should be bought organic, or at least a given a thorough washing.
And of course, all my fave fruits and veggies are on the dirty side.
One of my goals this year was to read 20 books. I’m behind, so I’m trying to play catch up. This was a perfect book to slam out. A couple in France decide to get a nanny, but choose the wrong one. They are amazed with her organization and “Mary Poppins” ways with the children. But the nanny has mental issues and kills the two children. This is not a plot giveaway since the book tells you this in the first chapter and then works its way backwards. Even without plot twists or whodunnits, I was intrigued throughout. I definitely recommend this book.
Side note: This book is fiction, but there was a similar true story of a nanny in New York, 2012 who gruesomely killed two children as the mother and third child were swimming at a local pool a few blocks away.
If I had to choose only one home decor blog to follow, planete-deco.fr is it. It’s a French site and I don’t understand any of the verbage, but pictures are worth a thousand words.

A story about the different lives of the people in a small Provence town. It jumps to a different person each chapter; however, the people do connect in some way to each other. I finished this book, but honestly I was bored.
Toward the end of my yoga class today, I was feeling a little weepy. Then during savasana, the tears really wanted to come. What the heck is happening? STOP! Afterwards, I sat up and here they come again. Flow-o-rama.
It turns out, this is normal. A little embarrassing, but normal. Yoga is all about connecting mind, body, spirit. You stretch your body, open and relax your mind, and feelings get released. It’s a good thing.
I’m feeling horticulturally confident making bouquets out of my garden flowers. My geraniums and lavender are in bloom, and my gardenias are full of buds. These are the three flowers I seem to have no problem growing. My two jasmines are up for debate. They’re still green, so that’s a plus.
