This book turned out to be much more than I expected. Yes, it’s about the mental and physical, rollercoaster dieting that most women put themselves through. However, as the book progresses, it begins to go beyond dieting and moves more into “why are women obsessed with what is perceived as physical “perfection”. It’s a story of “Jennifer” revolting against sexism, the beauty industry and society’s view of women in general.
After reading this, I see that it’s been made into a tv series and is being compared to “Fight Club”. It also reminds me of “V is for Vendetta” as far as movies go. Regardless, it’s a great read especially now with the strength of women’s movements happening.
